A multi-disciplinary collaboration between Art of Élan, The Holyfield, and the San Diego Art Institute to explore creativity, deep listening, and mindfulness in today’s world

Join Art of Élan, The Holyfield and Young Artists in Harmony students for an engaging afternoon that’s centered on the cultivation of mindfulness through classical music-making and Hip Hop.

On Friday, October 18, Poetry & Art Series 2019 at the San Diego Art Institute (SDAI) features authors Emily Gao, Bethel Swift, Andy Palasciano, Pat Andrus, Chris Nelson, and Christophver R.

A day of HIV testing, free admission to SDAI, free docent-led tours tailored for HIV-impacted individuals and communities, and a panel discussion titled “Race, HIV, and Art: the Impact of HIV/AIDS on LGBT Artists and Communities of Color” at 6 P.M.

Enjoy drinks with fellow artists in the community, reconnect with folks you know but haven’t seen in ages, as well as to meet San Diego’s new Executive Director of the Commissioner for Arts & Culture, Jonathon Glus.

As a special incentive, there’s free admission for any visitor who comes in and says, “I’m here to work with Joe.”

Winter Artist-in-Residence Chantal Wnuk presents painting and sculpture created during her 3-month residency at the San Diego Art Institute.

Artist-in-Residence Chantal Wnuk, Deviate / Landscape curator Carlos Castro Arias, and Trinh Mai visit SDAI to discuss their exhibitions. This event will create an intimate opportunity for our audience to connect with the artists and their art, allowing for live conversations that are immediate and personal.

Curated by Carlos Castro Arias & Sarah Trujillo-Porter Deviate / Landscape revolves around contemporary approaches to artmaking that deal with the idea of landscape as a constructed and deconstructed space.

SDAI will host an uninstructed session for artists of all levels to draw or paint a nude live model who will be posing on the Platform.
