The short film (20 minutes) will be followed by a Q&A with the artist, the filmmaker Saulo Cisneros, and executive producers David and Barbarella Fokos. Admission is $5 or free for SDAI Members.

SUMMARY of “PANCA”:

Tijuana-based artist Paola Villaseñor, aka PANCA, processes pain and transforms it into something positive and visual, from ephemeral public pieces to permanent tattoos. From dealing with the loss of her mother to being haunted by the deep stares of her fellow “displaced” people in Tijuana, PANCA captures her emotions in her monstrous, yet relatable characters. In this short film, Tijuana lives and breathes in a way that helps the viewer understand exactly why PANCA continues to be inspired by this town she calls “the most surreal city I’ve ever been in.”
