The San Diego Art Institute (SDAI) announces the closing reception of curator-in-residence Amanda Cachia’s exhibition Sweet Gongs Vibrating, taking place Saturday, May 28th. The reception will include a panel discussion with featured artists: Steve Roden, Aren Skalman, Margaret Noble, Cooper Baker, and Christof Migone; followed by a special performance in which Migone activates his work.

In Releasing Record Release, Migone DJs from vinyl records that have been purposefully scratched, marred, and marked by visitors. Each of the 77 records exhibited will have a unique soundtrack; there will be a range of sonic patterns and densities. The performance occurs in two sections: the records are played as they are before becoming base material for an improvisation.

Admission is $5 nonmembers, and $3 students, seniors, and military personnel. SDAI members and children under 12 admitted FREE.
