This collaborative, family-style event will celebrate the diverse cultures and artistic traditions of the area, with an emphasis on Chicano art and culture. The festival is free and open to the public at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation.

During the course of the event, more than 50 lowrider cars will be on display, courtesy of Amigos Car Club and the San Diego Lowrider Council. Select participating artists include: Creative Catalyst grantee Noe Olivas; renowned Tijuana street artist PANCA; stencil artist Pierce Williams who will give away art to the first 100 attendees; and printmaker Kim Cruz, who will run a children’s printmaking activity from 3-4pm. Please be sure to join us at 12:30pm for a screening of Alberto Pulido and Kelly Whalen’s film "Everything Comes from the Streets," documenting the lives and voices of the pioneers of the lowrider movements in the borderlands of San Diego and Tijuana. The event will also feature musical performances by Cumbia Machin (2pm), The Johnny Deadly Trio (3pm), and Hard Fall Hearts (4pm), as well as DJ's throughout the day provided by Radio Pulso Del Barrio.  In addition, the following Barrio Logan galleries have sponsored artists to create and sell work at the festival: Voz Alta (Ricardo Islas); Chicana Art Gallery (Cesar Castañeda & Sholove); Flying Panther Tattoo (Rob Benavides who has designed a special event t-shirt); and The Roots Factory (Jaclyn Rose). And if that isn’t enough, Famoso Mexican Street Food truck will be on-site selling their renowned tacos and TJ dogs!
