Art Of Élan Presents The Ecology of Sound: Concert & Panel Discussion

In partnership with the Art of Élan, SDAI presents The Ecology of Sound: A Collective Exploration of 'The Language of Things,' a concert event that features world premier compositions and a moderated artists talk. This special collaboration is tied to Roberto Romero Molina's innovative sound installation and the culminating event in Art of Élan’s fourth annual Young Artists in Harmony apprenticeship program in partnership with A Reason to Survive (ARTS). The event will begin with a pre-concert panel at 6:15pm, followed a concert from 7-8pm, and exhibition viewing 8-9pm.

The musical compositions of Young Artists in Harmony students will be premiered publicly alongside works by alumni Diego Rodriguez and Deejay Rich, as well as the world premiere of "Petal by Petal, Leaf by Leaf," written for flute, viola and harp by esteemed UCSD composer Lei Liang.

For the past 10 years Art of Élan has been pioneering unique chamber music events and bringing the excitement of classical music to diverse audiences. Created by violinist Kate Hatmaker and flutist Demarre McGill, Art of Élan continually expands the scope of classical music in San Diego through innovative, one-hour programming in unique performance venues. Its partnerships have led to multiple commissions, world premieres, exciting cross-disciplinary productions and enthusiastic, capacity audiences.

ABOUT YOUNG ARTISTS IN HARMONY:
This fall Art of Élan launched its fourth annual Young Artists in Harmony apprenticeship program in partnership with the nationally recognized A Reason To Survive (ARTS), an organization that believes in the power of the arts and creativity to literally transform lives – especially those of kids facing adversity. Consisting of weekly workshops where advanced ARTS students have had the opportunity to be mentored by Art of Élan musicians through unique apprenticeships, the residency culminates with two multidisciplinary and collaborative concerts that showcase original compositions the students create over the 10-week residency, performed by Art of Élan musicians.
